The comedy event will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support in their centenary year and is aimed at attracting the biggest names in stand up during next year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Tickets go on sale today at www.venue150.com/2011/thebigc.html or by calling 0844 847 1639. The Big C is a new voluntary organisation that raises money for charities that provide support for those affected by cancer. The line up will feature ten comedians and will be announced throughout the year.

Mhari Hetherington, Producer of The Big C, said:-“We’re really excited by the interest we’ve had already from some of the top comedy agents in the UK. It’s brilliant that so many people are keen to give their time in supporting this cause that touches so many people.”

Sam Gough, Venue Manager of Venue 150 @ EICC, said, “Venue 150 @ EICC is delighted to be supporting this event for Macmillan Cancer Support and welcomes The Big C as the first entry in our programme of events for Fringe 2011.”

Macmillan’s Edinburgh fundraising manager, Pamela Williamson, said: “At Macmillan, we’re thrilled to have Big Comedy Gala and their comic friends supporting us. Of course, there is a serious point to The Big C gala event – not only will the big names we’re expecting to take part in this show have the audience laughing in the aisles, but the money raised will go towards making life better for people affected by cancer by funding vital Macmillan services. A gift of a Big C comedy ticket is bound to put a smile on the face of a loved one this Christmas and give them something they can really look forward to during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.”
