DING DONG THE WITCH IS BACK! In a world of referendums, Brexit, Trump, another election and overall turmoil, Fringe favourite and multi-award winning Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for her fourth year to provide relief with the most fabulous game show of all!
Fresh from a total sell-out run in August 2016, the Iron Lady has set her sights on light entertainment has decided to become the new Mr. Saturday Night (except not a man).
Join Maggie as she leads audience members to compete for their golden giro cheque in a topical drag cabaret extravaganza like no other! Updated for 2017 with brand new topical sketches and games based on Brexit, the General Election, and what ever else happens in the news leading up to August – and quite frankly, in this climate, that could be anything!
Alongside cameo appearances from Jeremy Corbyn, Angela Merkel, Nigel Farage, Nicola Sturgeon and Owen Jones, and games including Brexit Through The Gift Shop, Fake News and Check Your Privilege, there’ll be songs and let’s not forget, there’ll be catchphrases: “The Lady’s not for turning, for turning the lady’s…?”
Created by Jon Brittain and Matt Tedford and produced by Off The Kerb Productions and Áine Flanagan Productions, the magnificent Maggie returns to Assembly George Square Gardens nightly at 9pm from the 3rd – 27th August following last years sell out run.
Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho says: “There’s a right wing populist in the White House, a woman in number 10, tension with Russia and the very real threat of imminent nuclear war…it’s like I never went away!
In fact I’m feeling so comfortable I’m bringing my fabulous and critically acclaimed game show back to Edinburgh. Come and compete in games such as ‘Check Your Privilege’, ‘Brexit Through The Gift Shop’ and ‘Fake News’ but remember, Putin isn’t allowed to help you win in this show. So, I’ll see you all in
Scotland (while its still part of the UK) and where there are points, may we bring prizes!”
2016’s run of Margaret Thatcher Queen of Game Shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe saw the show playing to sold out audiences every night and become one of the top three best reviewed shows of the Fringe, garnering an admirable nine five star reviews and much critical acclaim and notoriety.
