Four new retail brands are preparing to open at the St James Quarter, bringing more than 7,000 square feet of additional retail space to the city centre.

The new additions include women’s athleisure brand TALA, Italian fashion label Subdued, Danish outerwear company Rains, and Australian fashion jewellery brand Harli + Harpa.

Three of these retailers will be making their first appearance in Scotland when they open their doors to the public.

The expansion follows the recent rebranding of the retail site, which integrates the Edinburgh location into the wider Westfield network.

TALA, an athleisure company, will occupy 2,490 square feet of retail space. This opening marks the company’s first physical store location outside of London.

The brand focuses on activewear and lounge clothing for women, and its arrival in Edinburgh represents a shift in its physical retail strategy across the United Kingdom.

Subdued, an Italian clothing label aimed at teenagers and young women, has secured a 1,992 square foot unit within the centre. This addition brings another European fashion option to the Scottish capital’s retail landscape.

Rains, a Danish company specialising in waterproof outerwear and apparel, will open a 1,805 square foot store. This site is noted as the brand’s first Galleria location.

Harli + Harpa, a jewellery brand originating from Australia, will take up an 893 square foot space, rounding out the new fashion and lifestyle additions to the shopping centre.

The Westfield St James Quarter complex originally opened to the public in 2021. The site is owned through a joint venture between APG Asset Management and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), with URW also acting as the managing entity for the location.

Recent figures provided by the management company indicate the centre recorded an annual footfall of 20.6 million visitors throughout the year 2025. This volume of pedestrian traffic highlights the site’s current position within Edinburgh’s retail sector.

The shopping centre currently houses a variety of domestic and international retail tenants. Existing brands operating within the complex include Sephora, Zara, H&M, BOSS, Coach, and Reiss.

The recent corporate rebranding exercise by URW officially changed the destination’s name to Westfield St James Quarter, placing the Edinburgh site under the global Westfield banner.

According to the company, this move is intended to attract international retailers and digitally native brands to the location.

The addition of these four brands represents a continued shift in the retail composition of Edinburgh’s city centre, adding specific international fashion and lifestyle options to the existing retail environment.

The new store openings are scheduled to occur soon, though exact trading dates have not yet been disclosed by the retailers or the centre management team.
