Racegoers from across Edinburgh and the Lothians will experience traditional Bavarian customs and a seven-race sporting card as Musselburgh Racecourse hosts its third annual Oktoberfest.
The East Lothian venue will hold the Munich-inspired event on Saturday, 12 September, featuring live oompah bands, German street food, and physical challenges.
The race card is headlined by the £20,000 SCOTS Association Musselburgh Gold Cup and is supported by the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania recently completed an assault course at Glencorse Barracks, and in return, a soldier will undertake jockey-related challenges during the meeting.
The event, now in its third year, will feature a dedicated Oktoberfest Marquee hosting the Jäger Maestros band alongside stein holding, keg rolling, and sing-alongs.
The Royal Regiment of Scotland will maintain a military stand at the venue, offering challenges to racegoers.
Guests have been encouraged to attend in traditional lederhosen to mark the German festival, which originally dates back to 1810.
A range of bratwurst, pretzels, and German beer will be provided by street food vans throughout the venue.
Aisling Johnston, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Musselburgh Racecourse, said: “Our Oktoberfest meeting continues to grow each year and returning visitors love the mix of a fun German-inspired event with competitive horse racing.
“We hope guests will dust off their lederhosen and put their best Bavarian foot forward to come along for what will be a hugely entertaining afternoon and evening, topped off with seven exciting Flat races.”
Gates will open at 2pm ahead of the first provisional race at 4:07pm, with an After Racing Party scheduled to follow the final event at 7:`20pm.
Advance tickets are currently available with a £5 reduction, and children aged 17 and under are admitted free of charge.
The racecourse will provide a free shuttle bus service to and from Wallyford and Newcraighall rail stations throughout the day.
