The United States Consulate General Edinburgh has issued an open invitation to anyone who would like to attend a remembrance service on Friday to remember those killed in the 9/11 attack in New York 25 years ago.

The service to commemorate the anniversary will be held at St Giles’ Cathedral at 3pm on 11 September.

Members of the public are asked to arrive in good time to be seated before the service begins.

A spokesperson for the US Consulate General Edinburgh said: “While St Giles’ Cathedral offers generous seating capacity, general admission will be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis until the venue is full.

“We hope you will join us in this moment of remembrance and solidarity.”
