On 23 September, police officers in Midlothian attended a report of a housebreaking in the Dalkeith area.

Following enquiries and a review of CCTV footage, the officers were able to positively identify a suspect.

Later that same day, a warrant was granted for the suspect’s address.

Officers from Response and CID attended the property and gained entry.

Evidence recovered during the search helped officers trace and recover stolen property from a local pawnbroker.

The male was subsequently arrested and charged with Theft by Housebreaking.

He was also linked to a further housebreaking which occurred earlier this year.

A police spokesperson said: “We would encourage anyone with information about housebreaking or other criminal activity in their area to report it to Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
