Glenn Whelan felt the 2-0 win over Dunfermline was a good three points, but told the club’s TV: “There are aspects we can improve on.”
Livingston’s head coach was also happy with the clean sheet but argued that it is the first time that some of the players have been on the pitch in a competitive match together.
Whelan conceded: “It took at little bit of time to get used to each other.”
The coach felt that some were “a little naive” about what they were trying to do, but he added: “We need to manage the game a little better.”
Bradley Van Hoeven scored the opener and Whelan said he is a Dutch player with a lot of qualities. Robbie Muirhead, the club’s captain, netted the second to secure the points.
Livingston lost last time out at Partick Thistle in front of the BBC Sport Scotland cameras and a nationwide audience. The squad had two weeks to mull over a defeat and he said he was looking for a reaction.
Whelan said: “I can accept losing, but there is a certain way you lose and, on the night, a few of the lads froze and did not show what they are capable of.
“So, with the squad we have got, and the competition we have got in the squad, I am going to make changes.”
Next up it is Arbroath next Saturday away and Whelan said: “We take the work serious and it will be a tough game down there.”
He added: “We are building something here.”
