A leg break sustained by Thilina Palethane sliding for second base overshadowed the inaugural two day baseball festival hosted by Edinburgh Rays at Morgan Playing Fields, Peffermill.

Because that particular encounter had to be suspended – Thilina has now undergone surgery – it was reckoned the decision cost Rays a place in the final where Capital rivals Edinburgh Knights stepped up to defeat Tayport Breakers.

Winner of the Home Run Derby for big hitting was Rose Anderson who is pictured receiving her award from organiser Luke Rajczuk.

Rays upcoming fixtures – August 2 – Edinburgh Angels (Peffermill); August 9 – Glasgow (Peffermill); August 16 – Tayport Breakers (away); August 23 – Edinburgh Cannons (Warriston).
