Hibs have announce the signing of 26-year-old Callum Wright on a three-year deal, subject to SFA clearance!
Wright joins Hibs following the expiration of his contract at Plymouth Argyle and becomes the second signing of the Summer Transfer Window, following Jason Kerr’s arrival earlier this month.
The creative midfielder arrives in fine form, having recently enjoyed an impressive season at Wigan Athletic – where he played alongside Kerr.
Whilst out on loan, he featured 49 times for The Latics, providing 15 goal contributions, winning both the Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the Season for his efforts.
Renowned for his high energy, work-rate and technical ability, Wright brings with him a wealth of experience – having won League titles with both Cheltenham Town and Plymouth Argyle, whilst also featuring regularly in the English Championship.
Upon Wright’s arrival, Hibs Head Coach David Gray said: “We’re delighted Callum has committed his future to the Club and we can’t wait for him to get started.
“He has all the traits you want in a midfielder; high energy, excellent work-rate, creativity and an eye for goal.
“He is coming off the back of a very impressive season at Wigan and it is extremely beneficial that he has arrived with a full pre-season ahead of him and a good opportunity to gel with the group.”
Hibs Sporting Director Malky Mackay added: “Callum is a player who attracted a lot of interest from various clubs, so we are delighted to get this deal over the line at the beginning of the window.
“He is exactly the type of character that we want to bring into the building and he has fantastic attributes as a player too.
“He knows what it takes to win, and he has a brilliant work ethic and willingness to do well. We welcome him and his family to Hibernian FC and look forward to seeing him out on the pitch.”
