A care home in Edinburgh is supporting a local rugby club in its mission to bring people together through sport.
Care UK’s Murrayside in Corstorphine has donated £1,000 to Murrayfield Wanderers FC.
Based at Roseburn Park in Edinburgh, Murrayfield Wanderers FC provides competitive and social rugby opportunities for men, women and children of all ages.
The club shares a close connection with Murrayside, with players and team members regularly visiting the home to spend time with residents and take part in activities.

Funds have been used to buy new strips for the junior girls and boys teams.
Mark Anderson, President at Murrayfield Wanderers FC, said: “At MWFC we have a strong relationship with Care UK Murrayside, so it’s fantastic that we’re building on this through the sponsorship and support of our next generation of players.
“Rugby is a community game for people of any age to enjoy, and it’s partnerships like this that keep it going. Long may that continue!”
Suzanne Welsh, Home Manager at Murrayside, said: “Murrayfield Wanderers FC is a firm favourite with the residents, so we’re delighted to support the club with this donation.
“We regularly use their clubhouse for events, and players and coaches often come to the home to spend time with residents, which has helped us build a really great relationship over the years.
“Their visits always put a smile on residents’ faces, and we’re always looking forward to the next one.
“We’re excited to see the club continue to grow and continue to make a positive difference to local people’s lives.”
Murrayside is a state-of-the-art care home that incorporates space for leisure activities and hobbies, including a cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
