Edinburgh Monarchs Academy put in another dominant display to complete a weekend win double over Middlesbrough Tigers with a 54-36 victory on the road after their 57-33 home success on Friday.
There were strong performances throughout and Academy team manager, Scott Wilson, commented: “We picked up right where we left off (on Friday). The team were fantastic again.”
Wilson was pleased with the performance on-track, but equally pleased with the team effort off-track. He added: “There is a fantastic spirit among the team, everyone wants to help each other out.”
Overall, he said it was a very satisfying first weekend.
Wilson’s men started strongly with heat advantages in heats three, five and eight, meaning a ten-point advantage had been garnered, and there was no way way back for the hosts.
Special mention must go to Ben Whalley as the reserve was involved in three 5-1 maximums on his way to a paid 16 score.
This total was matched by captain Dayle Wood who also recorded a trio of heat wins also and, with Jordy Loftus also taking the checkered flag three times, the platform was there for a big win.
The hosts were once again led by number one Ace Pijper who recorded a maximum after missing out at the last on Friday.
Beyond that, there were further signs of promise from reserve pair Charlie Southwick and Harry Sadler while Jade Mudgway and Seth Norman were competitive throughout.
There was no answer to the Academy’s strength and they sit at the top the National Development League table.
