Hibs ‘Starman’ Martin Boyle has penned a one-year contract extension with the Club, keeping him at the club until Summer 2027.
Boyle – a modern-day Hibs legend – will continue to write the next chapter of his iconic story with the club which has seen him surpass over 400 appearances and score 110 goals to date.
His original contract was due to expire in June 2026, however, following recent positive conversations, Hibs are delighted to agree terms with the 33-year-old to extend his stay in Leith until summer 2027.
Across the 2025/26 campaign, Boyle has led by example, captaining Hibs on numerous occasions and featuring in 44 games with 15 goal contributions across the season (11 goals, four assists).
Three of those strikes came in the UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign, which saw Boyle become the Club’s all-time European top-goalscorer with nine goals.
Boyle made his 407th appearance for the Hibs against Motherwell at Easter Road yesterday.
Head coach David Gray said: “Everyone knows my feelings towards Martin Boyle and how much I value him as both a player and a person, so I am delighted that we are able to extend his contract by another year.
“Martin is still a huge asset for this Football Club, and he has consistently proven year after year, and again this season, that he can deliver vital goals and big moments for the team.
“Not only that, he is a huge character to have in the dressing room and has stepped up in Joe Newell’s absence to captain the team and lead by example. He knows Hibernian FC inside out, and it made complete sense for us to keep him in the building.”
Sporting Director, Malky Mackay added: “There has been a lot of speculation in the last few months about Martin Boyle and where he might end up.
“From our point of view, we all had a willingness to make this happen, but it had to be right for everyone involved.
“Following positive conversations with Martin, his agent and Ian Gordon, we are delighted to be able to come to an agreement to extend Martin’s time at the Club. His performances have shown that he still has a lot more to give to this Football Club.
“Martin has a huge summer ahead with the potential World Cup on the horizon, so we are pleased to be able to get this deal done and secure his service for another 12 months.”
Boyle added: “As soon as it was brought to my attention, I thought there’s no other place.
“It’s a special place to me. I’m very grateful. I just now stand in a position where thousands and thousands of people would probably swap places with me.
“I get the honour of putting on that shirt, and I give 100% to this Club.
“Hopefully next season I can do the same, whether that’s in a leadership role or a different kind of role by helping the younger boys break through and maybe do a bit of coaching as well.
“This is me sounding mature, but I think everyone knows what this Club means to me and my family.
“Last night was tough. It was a late decision, but there’s no better place I’d rather be. I’m thankful I can call this place home.”
