Scott Arfield did not think it was a 3-0 game at Dundee. The statistics show it was, but the former Rangers player felt his men did not reward themselves in big moments.
However, it is back to the drawing board and a return to interim manager Arfield as his men travel back to Tayside on Tuesday to face Dundee United (kick-off 19.45) as they continue their post-split games.
United, managed by Jim Goodwin (pictured), also suffered a reverse on Saturday, going down 2-0 at Aberdeen.
Arfield has done coaching of reserve sides and under-19 squads but not at the top level and he told BBC Sport Scotland that he enjoyed preparing for a game in a different way.
He was also up against Steven Pressley, the former Hearts and Rangers player, who was formerly his manager and a team-mate.
Arfield added: “I’ve enjoyed the process, but we got beat. We just don’t reward ourselves in big moments and that has been quite symbolic of the season.”
