Hibs U19s face St Mirren in the CAS Elite U19 League Cup Final on tonight at Excelsior Stadium; 7pm kick-off.
The final represents a great opportunity for the youngsters to get their hands on the trophy with Head Coach Darren McGregor looking ahead of the tie.
“It’s relative to our age group. But I say that to the lads, it’s your chance to create a wee bit of history.
“It’ll be a fantastic occasion. They will have friends and family there. You just need to embrace the situation because you don’t come around all too often, regardless of whether it’s the 19s or whether it’s First Team.
“It’s difficult to win things, especially cups and leagues. We’ve shown up to this point that we’re good enough to do it.
“If we turn up and we are all at our best, it’ll be a fantastic day.”
Hibs U19s have earned their spot in the League Cup Final following an impressive showing in both the group stage – battling through a loaded group of St Mirren, Rangers and Motherwell – and the semi-final, in which they convincingly brushed aside Dundee United on away turf.
“I think we’ve done really well. In the group stages we only lost one game,” McGregor said. “We only got done by St Mirren on goal difference [in the group stage], so there’s definite momentum.
“Everybody wants to play in a final, regardless of whether it’s a CAS cup final or a Scottish Cup final. There’s something to play for, so it will be a great day, hopefully.”
