Glasgow Tigers’ boss Cami Brown told his squad: “You have to produce. We can’t afford any more slip-ups.”
His statement comes after the Allied Vehicles Tigers skidded out of two cup competitions in eight days to Plymouth Gladiators and Edinburgh Moanrchs.
And his verbal blast arrived only hours ahead of a huge clash with Plymouth in the Cab Direct Championship at Ashfield on Friday (tapes-up 7.30pm).
The 49-41 defeat to Edinburgh on Sunday in the BSN Series must, he said, serve as motivation to get back on track with victory against Plymouth.
Brown said: “By a quirk of fixtures, they (Plymouth) return just a fortnight after being here in the MAXiCab KO Cup. That makes them dangerous opposition.
“They’ve had experience of the track recently so we really will need to get our act together immediately, but, despite the setback last week, there are a few positives which we mustn’t lose sight of.
“This team has so much fight in it. Nothing was working for anyone last Sunday, but they didn’t lie down. They battled like mad to get the job done.
“They have character. If we can tweak the starts and cut out the bike problems, this team can succeed. It has to start now. There are no second chances now.
“We’ve gone out of two cup competitions in a week, and that’s not good enough for this club. We have to produce against the Gladiators and really get our season going. They know we can’t afford any more slip-ups.”
