Lothian has raised £12,800 in the past year from the sale of their lost property items.
For the last two years the bus operator has donated the items left behind on buses to housing charity, Shelter Scotland, who sell them at their charity shops in Edinburgh. These items have included jackets and jumpers, children’s toys and DVDs/
A total of 3,149 items were sold and 0.95 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill.
The monies raised will pay to answer calls from more than 230 families who are in crisis, and fund 260 web chats offering advice on housing issues.

“By giving unclaimed lost property a second life, we are reducing waste and creating real social value where it is needed the most.
“Raising £12,800 over the past 12 months is a significant milestone and reflects our strong commitment to supporting Shelter Scotland’s work to end homelessness.”
