An impressive 3-1 victory on the road at Rugby Park made it nine points from nine for David Gray’s men in the last week.
Elie Youan bagged a brace before a late Jamie McGrath penalty secured all three points in Ayrshire.
The result caps off a fantastic week for the Club – coming off the back of impressive home wins against Hearts and Aberdeen to end 2025 on a high.
Speaking to Hibs TV after the match, Gray emphasised the importance of getting maximum points against Kilmarnock.
“It was all about the result today, and I thought over the piece we fully deserved it. This is a really difficult place to come — the surface, dealing with all that comes with that. I thought the first half was really good, but we needed to be more clinical; we had a few good chances to make it a little bit easier for ourselves.
“In the second half, I thought the game was a lot more even without there being many chances in it. There were a lot more mistakes, a lot of them were self-inflicted from our point of view, but we had a good reaction to losing a goal. It was a really poor goal to lose, but we reacted well and got what we deserved in the end, which was the three points.”
The result makes it three wins from three and keeps Hibs in touching distance with those above them in the league table.
“It’s a massive win,” Gray continued.
“Three wins in a week is always a difficult thing to do at any time of the year. When you look at how stretched the squad has been, everybody’s stepped up, everybody’s pulling in the same direction, and it sets us up really nicely moving forward.
“I think history tells you that this is a difficult place to come. I know Kilmarnock’s form hasn’t been where they would like it to be, but coming down here is always difficult.
“We know what’s coming in terms of the surface, the atmosphere, how difficult they can make it for you, being very direct. You need to stand up to that and we made the players well aware of it. There were no excuses.
“I thought the second half was a classic example of finding a way to win the game, which is a good trait to have. We certainly didn’t win playing our best football in the second half, but we managed to get the three points, which is the most important thing.”
“It is a really positive start to the New Year and it ends what has been a massive week for the Football Club.”
Gray praised the full squad effort, with everyone pitching in over the last week.
“I mentioned after the Aberdeen game about being stretched and picking up a few bumps and bruises. We had a couple today, with Kanyo (Megwa) coming off in the first half and Jack Iredale picked up a bit of a knock in the second half.
“I’ve spoken a lot this season about the togetherness within the squad and the quality we believe we’ve got. It’s also a testament to the players who train hard every single day. I said after Aberdeen that you need to keep doing the right things, stay professional, and keep working hard so that when you get your opportunity, you’re ready to step in.
“Today was another example of that. The squad and the substitutes came on and contributed. We’ve got a massive three points and we’ve earned a couple of days now to recharge the batteries, get a bit of freshness, and recover the players.”
