Derek McInnes reflected post-game that he expected a tough game at Tannadice and was pleased with the 3-0 outcome against nine-man Dundee United in the William Hill Premiership.
The Jambos boss felt his men started the game well and took charge. Midfielder Marc Leonard, one of his new acquisitions, put his foot on the ball early, said McInnes, and he added: “To get three goals, a clean sheet, I thought we kept our discipline really well and were really professional.
“Yes when you go against nine-men you could take more advantage, but a 3-0 victory at Tannadice is good.”
He praised the opposition players who stayed on the pitch for their work ethic and he told Sky Sports: “I thought it was a top class performance.”
Pierre Landry Kabore was acclaimed as Man of the Match and McInnes (pictured at training by Nigel Duncan) felt the player was “really strong” and will take confidence from his two goals.
He added: “We have brought guys in to give us something different and what really impressed me was that he dropped in, secured possession, and it was great for him as a striker to score two goals. That will do him no harm at all.”
McInnes said that when the next game comes around – the Men in Maroon visit Paisley to face St Mirren on Tuesday (20.00) in the William Hill Premiership – Kabore will be “buzzing” and added: “So he should be.”
