Hearts dominated and ran out comfortable winners against nine-man Dundee United to consolidate their position at the top of the William Hill Premiership.

A double from Kabore and a Kyziridis penalty saw them home as Farah and Camara were red carded for United.

The match in front of a nationwide Sky Sports TV audience with 11,627 fans inside the CalForth Construction Arena at Tannadice saw Hearts dominate possession and move on to 54 points, seven clear of second-placed Rangers.

The travelling fans loved it, staying to the final whistle to salute their favourites who had produced a good night’s work, three goals, clean sheet and a 3-0 win.

Earlier, Derek McInnes made three changes, restoring German goalkeeper, Schwolow, placed new signing Mato on the bench at Tannadice alongside Ageu while Leonard, on loan from Birmingham City, retained his place in midfield.

Jim Goodwin, United’s manager, introduced newcomer Maynard-Brewer, a goalkeeper signed from English side, Charlton, and it was thought that the questionable surface could cause problems.

The home side started strongly, forcing Hearts back, but it was the Jambos who edged ahead with a stunning goal.

Milne linked up with Braga on the left and the Aberdonian drove down the by line. His inch-perfect cross into the six-yard box was sidefooted home by Kabore. Slick, clinical and highly-effective and it was all down to Milne’s dynamic run.

The travelling fans were in full voice as McEntee sent a throw in back to Altena and he floated a ball into the box which was cleared.

United proved they could be a force when Stephenson powered down the right and sent a ball across the box. The ball was sent back towards the back post and Fatah was denied by quick-thinking Schwolow.

In the build-up Fatah tackled Leonard in midfield, sending the Hearts player to the ground grimacing, holding his ankle. The incident was referred to VAR then the match official was advised to go the pitchside monitor. He issued a red card to the 21-year-old, Swedish-born midfielder. Time 23 minutes.

Goodwin had to re-organise and minutes later Braga was heavily tackled on the edge of the United box. VAR was once again called in and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. United’s roof was falling in.

Up stepped Kyziridis and he fired it low and hard into the bottom left hand corner. Pin-point accuracy. Maynard-Brewer had no chance. Time 29min and 2-0 for the Jambos.

Trapanovski was then booked for a crude challenge on Hearts’ Dutch defender Altena as United got tough and their goalkeeper had to make a point-blank save with his head, it was debatable if he knew much about it, to deny Hearts from an inswinging corner on the left delivered by Leonard and met by high-flying Kabore at the back post.

Then Kyziridis picked up a ball near the by line, jinked and fed Milne whose effort was sent over by Maynard-Brewer. There was no doubt that Hearts’ set-piece play was causing the United rearguard problems.

Goodwin was deep in thought in the dugout as Kyziridis sent Kabore away. The danger was cleared for a corner which came to nothing and the scoreline remained the same to the break as Hearts retained control of the game.

Sapsford was introduced for United at the start of the second period for Trapanovski, but it was Hearts who threatened first. Magnusson got underneath the ball and sent it high over the bar with his header after a flowing five-man move.

Kyziridis and Milne then combined down the left to threaten then a tempting, deep cross from Milne was grabbed by the United goalkeeper with Kabore waiting for a slip.

Milne, Kabore and MeEntee then combined and the New York-born player shot straight at Maynard-Brewer, a chance wasted. The Jambos became sloppy as Camara came on for a United side struggling to get a foothold in the game.

Kabore then fed Kyziridis who flicked the ball to Findlay lying unmarked on the edge of the penalty box, but his floated ball to the far post was wasteful.

Leonard lost the ball in the United half. It was transferred down the right and the cross from substitute Camara found Sapsford ghosting in unmarked at the near post. His header flashed wide, a huge chance for United to get back into the game had gone.

Then Kabore was denied twice by Maynard-Brewer after being fed by Altena. Kabore puffed out his cheeks in frustration before Halkett sent a free-kick just wide.

Kyziridis and Braga combined on the edge of the box and the move was blocked by the United goalkeeper before McInnes made changes to freshen up his side. McCart, Steinwender and Kerjota came on with Braga, Altena and Milne making way.

Disaster for United when Camara was red carded for pushing his head towards Leonard after a midfield skirmish, right in front of the referee, and United were down to nine men with 76 minutes on the clock. Then David Bowman, one of the United coaching staff, and a former Jambo, was then sent from the dugout.

More changes for Hearts. Latest signing Mato and long-term injury Ageu were made ready as Kabore made it 3-0, swivelling to net from near the penalty box. Maynard- Brewer got a hand to it but it trundled into the net. Time 80 minutes.

Kyziridis and Magnusson came off with Mato going up-top with Kabore as McInnes looked to give game-time to others and substitute Kerjota had a chance at the back post, but he ballooned the ball over when in a good position.

Then, in injury time, Ageu rose to nod goalwards only for the United goalkeeper to pull off another good stop.
