Richard Demarco is Scottish European of the Year 2025

Richard Demarco, CBE, has received the honour of being named Scottish European of the Year 2025.

The artist who is now 95 years-old received a certificate from Culture Secretary, Angus Robertson, at The Scottish Parliament on Tuesday.

The Grange Prestonfield Voice

Grange Prestonfield Community Council (GPCC) has decided to launch a new newsletter titled The Grange Prestonfield Voice.

A spokesperson said: “Our ambition is to provide a free monthly newsletter that informs the community on what’s happening in their neighbourhoods. This could include local events, volunteer groups, city issues, school and youth group news, relevant planning and transport development, past history, and other things.”

Bike Ride

05 December from 1pm-3pm: Join Bridgend Farmhouse for a guided winter bike ride.

The pace is gentle and social on mostly flat, off main road, routes. The destinations vary within an 8-10 mile range of the Farmhouse. So far the group has visited the Meadows, Portobello Beach, and more.

Hire an e-bike [£5] or borrow a pedal bike for free [Helmets included]. Children welcome with an able adult rider.

Concert

The Dementia Trust Christmas Concert takes place on 12 December 2025 at 6.30pm. The doors open at 6pm.
The concert is at St Vincent’s Chapel, St Vincent Street, Edinburgh EH3 6SW and performers include Catherine Duncan (pianist) and The Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s Young Singers

Santa Paws

Edinburgh’s Christmas’ is calling out for the city’s dogs to take part in the Santa Paws event on Sunday.

This is an attempt to break the world record for the most dogs in Christmas jumpers, in a new partnership with Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home.
The attempt will take place on 7 December at noon in West Princes Street Gardens as part of Edinburgh’s Christmas free community events.
