Sea anglers anxious for some competition fishing have two options this weekend, and the weather forecast is favourable.
The Fife Shore Showdown is on Saturday, January 3, with boundaries from Elie to Dysart.
Entry is £20 (£10 for youngsters) and registration is at noon in Buckhaven Beach Car Park. Fishing is from 1pm to 6pm.
It is a two hook maximum per fisherman and any fish under the legal limit must be returned immediately.

And, the following day, Sunday, January 4, the East Fife New Year Open is held with boundaries from Carnoustie to Ferryden.
It’s an early start with registration from 8.30am to 9am at the Victoria Car Park in Arbroath.
Fishing is from 10.00 to 15.00 and the weigh-in closes at 16.00.
It is a £15 entry with prizes for the heaviest cod and places first, second and third.
