Kieron Bowie finally caught his breath and described his wonder goal that helped Hibs advance to the UEFA Conference League Play-Off.
With Hibs trailing 2-0 on the night, a moment of magic from the striker sent the home crowd into raptures – and has rightfully earned Puskás Award shouts online.
“It was just split-second,” Bowie told HibsTV after the final whistle. “Jack got an assist for it, I don’t know how.
“I’ve just shielded it past two of them, and it’s sat up nicely. I’ve just hit it and it’s gone right in the top corner, it took the cobwebs out the top corner.
“Honestly, it was unreal. I genuinely have never scored a goal like that in my life. When the confidence is flowing, you try stuff like that. Thankfully it paid off.”
“We go into the game 2-0 up but you don’t think like that, we think we’re drawing 0-0 at the start of the game.
“The message at half-time was to just keep doing what we’ve been doing and we’ll get chances.
“I feel like both goals they scored [in the first half] were their only two chances. We had created a lot more chances, so we knew we’d get more chances in the game.”
Bowie made it to the 114th minute before being replaced by summer signing Thibault Klidjé, receiving a huge well-deserved standing ovation from the home support.
“It was good to get through it. I feel like I had a fourth wind, not just a second wind, during the game.
“I feel like I didn’t stop. The adrenaline gets you through the whole game.
“Hopefully we can continue to progress.”
