Another win, four more goals making it eight in two games with only one in reply, and Hearts march on in the Premier Sports Cup.
Hamilton Accies were on the receiving end on this occasion, a 4-0 win, Stuart Findlay scoring on his debut after six minutes, Elton Kabangu netting inn first-half injury time, James Wilson converting after 69 minutes and substitute Claudio Braga claiming his first for the Jambos with 83 minutes on the clock.
Derek McInnes saw his men dominate proceedings at Broadwood and he said: “It wasn’t perfect but two games, eight goals and you cannot complain about that.”
Another positive was keeping a clean sheet and, reflecting on the goal conceded to Dunfermline Athletic at Tynecastle on Saturday, he added: “You can see that losing a cheap goal can set you back and make things that more difficult.”
The head coach indicated that Hearts passed up other chances in the first half at Broadwood and that would have made things more comfortable and he added: “The second goal just before half time was important to us.
“I thought we were good second half in terms of control, we scored two very good goals, strikers getting amongst it, James (Wilson) scoring a great goal with an assist from Claudio (Brago) and Claudio scoring a goal and it could have been more, particularly from set plays.”
Now, the focus is on the trip to Forthview to face Stirling Albion on Saturday. (kick-off 17.15).
