An investigation is underway after a serious assault in Edinburgh city centre.

Emergency services were called to Calton Road around 7.35pm last night.

Officers found a 34-year-old man with serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

His condition was described as stable.

Police said their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.35pm on Friday, 27 June 2025, police were called to a report of a man found seriously injured on Calton Road, Edinburgh, near the burial ground.

“The 34-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
