Space @ The Broomhouse Hub is offering free room hire for local charities to offer community activities and groups.
Two Saturday* slots are available—from 1 – 2.20pm and 3 – 4.30pm – for three-month ‘residencies’ at Space.
The agreement includes free use of the Main Hall area, which has capacity for approximately 60 people. While the halls are provided free of charge, thanks to National Lottery players, groups are responsible for their own staffing.
More details of guidelines and how to apply are available on the website www.spacescot.org.
Applications are due by 1 July 2024, then chosen participants will be notified by 22 July 2024 and gain access to the hall Saturdays* from 3 August to 26 November 2024. Following a festive break, the second set of groups will run from January through March 2025.
Neil Hay, CEO at Space said: “We know that costs have risen significantly for all charities and community groups in the past few years and wanted to find a way to assist.
“Room hire, especially for smaller groups who do not have their own premises, is a big part of their costs, so we approached The National Lottery Cost of Living Fund to see if they could help.
“Thanks to their support we are in a position to offer a whole raft of help to the community, including free use of the halls at Space, well into 2025.”
Alongside free use of the halls, The Broomhouse Hub is launching a Saturday morning breakfast club for under-16s, a new “Kids Club” for children in P3-P6 (ages seven to 11) with games, crafts, and more; an English as a Second Language (ESOL) Family Group; and Saturday drop-in for Young Adult Carers.
