Protesters have daubed the parliament building in Edinburgh with red paint on Monday morning, protesting against “rising food insecurity”.
Three individuals with three fire extinguishers sprayed the red paint along with a demand that The Scottish Government establishes community food hubs for every 500 households in Scotland and reduces the price of baby formula to 2021 prices.
Two of the protesters, Theo Milligan, 21, Marshall, 26, and Louis Wombacher, 21 painted the exterior of the building with 3 fire extinguishers of red paint and displayed banners that read ‘1 in 4 Scots’ and ‘hunger is a political choice’.
Milligan, 21, a hospitality worker from Edinburgh, said, “I’m taking action because I can no longer sit by and watch the cost of living crisis unfold in front of me. Food is a basic human right and should not be controlled by money hungry companies. It’s vitally important we take action now, we will not stand for these rising prices, and we demand the government will commit to helping its citizens in this time of food crisis.”
