Volkswagen is one of the largest German car manufacturers and today it owns ten different car brands. This huge company is the result of many years of activity, effort, and excellent car production. Despite the current success, Volkswagen has not always produced models that have become a large part of the market for many years. In the early 1970s, Volkswagen developed several car models that are regularly updated and are still in production today. One of them is the Volkswagen Passat.

The first generation of Volkswagen Passat was introduced in 1973 and was considered one of the most modern and advanced daily family-friendly cars. There were only very few competitors that offered a front-wheel drive with that size of a body. Volkswagen Passat B1 featured four-cylinder 1.3-liter, or 1.5-liter petrol engines, with a power of a maximum of 84 hp. Later on, the variety of engines was expanded and some diesel engines were developed. Unfortunately, the first diesel engines produced only 46 hp and it took almost 20 seconds for a car to reach a speed of 100 km/h.

As time passed, the new Volkswagen Passat B2 was introduced in 1981. The design changes were very slight, and the manufacturer decided not to establish something extraordinary. Despite the small changes in design, the manufacturer introduced several new generation engines capable of generating more power. Volkswagen Passat B2 was produced until 1988. At that time, about 4.5 million of them were produced worldwide.

In 1988 the new Volkswagen Passat B3 was established. It was a huge step toward modernized design, innovation, and technology. During its production period, the VW Passat B3 offered a wide variety of diesel and petrol engines, basic safety systems, cruise control, skylight, heated seats, electronic windows, and much more.

The next generation (B4) was changed mostly from the perspective of design. The interior stayed almost the same. Despite that, some extra safety features were implemented. Volkswagen Passat cars stayed untouched until the modern B5 and B5.5 models were released in 1997 and 2001. It was a completely new-looking car with a rounded design, which helped to improve the aerodynamics of the car.

 Volkswagen Passat B6

The constant modernization of the design produced by competitors finally forced Volkswagen to look for solutions, so another update of the Passat model was introduced to the market. This time it was designated as the B6. Just like other Passat models, the B6 featured the same design and technical features that could be found in many other cars produced in the same period. Similar situations continued to take place until the latest B9 was started to produce. After its release, the Volkswagen Passat B9 model rapidly became the desired choice for many drivers all around the world, and it was even called “a premium car without the premium price”.

Of course, to keep even the newest car in good condition, it is sometimes necessary to repair it and replace some original parts.
