Following a fabulously extravagant press night on Thursday the newest cinema in town is ready to open its doors to the public on Saturday.

The new Everyman is the 37th venue in the UK and it is on the fifth floor of St James Quarter. There will be a full film schedule beginning tomorrow alongside good food and drink in the cinema as well as the restaurants close by.

The venue opens in time for the much anticipated release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, in addition to Downton Abbey: A New Era, out on 8 and 29 April respectively. Everyman Edinburgh will also host extravagant special events and present a diverse calendar of live entertainment.

We were invited to the press launch and watched Dune on the big screen – one of five award winning cinema greats on offer to the many who were invited. The cinemas as small and intimate with superb sound, seats are luxurious and comfortable with tables for drinks and snacks. The extensive food and drink menu includes premium burgers made from the finest quality Aberdeen Angus beef, served on soft brioche buns and hand-cut skin-on fries. Sitting alongside this, there will be a selection of new vegan dishes including a plant-based cheeseburger, and pizza topped with chargrilled artichoke, sun dried tomato and plant based mozzarella. The new venue will also be operating a full bar, with speciality wine and beer, indulgent cocktails and a range of alcohol-free drinks to make for a decadent evening without the hangover. And for those with a sweet tooth, there’s freshly baked cookie dough, chocolatey treats and an indulgent new Biscoff milkshake made with plant-based vanilla ice cream and soya milk.
