Glenkinchie Distillery in East Lothian welcomed a magical, refurbished vintage Johnnie Walker truck just in time for guests to enjoy a selection of delicious whisky cocktails in the picturesque setting of the garden distillery in the summer sun.
An extension of the main distillery experience, the al fresco bar, will serve delicious Johnnie Walker highball cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and a range of whiskies, for one month only.
The truck dates back to the 1950s when it served transporting whisky casks for Johnnie Walker before retiring from duty in the 1970s. Now it has been transformed by the Johnnie Walker team and put back to work an incredible bar that will appear at festivals and at Johnnie Walker distilleries around the country.
The Glenkinchie team will be serving a wide selection of beverages from the truck surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden that has been carefully created to reflect the stunning local rural environment. Situated in front of the traditional Victorian red brick warehouses, the space is a stylish retreat for guests to unwind and indulge in a taste of locally produced whisky.
Laura Murray, Regional Brand Home Manager, said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome the vintage Johnnie Walker truck to Glenkinchie Distillery, the Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker complete with its new bar. We’re able to offer guests an extension of the main distillery experience and embrace whisky offering with this new outside drinking space in the heart of our garden.
“Guests will be treated to a unique experience enjoying cocktails based from our floral whisky in the midst of a classic building, vintage truck and gorgeous garden. It truly is a great way to enjoy some summer sun.”
Guests are not required to book tours and distillery experiences to enjoy the outside venues, with walk-ins from the general public accepted, allowing visitors to savour the views while sipping on a dram or whisky cocktail.
Distillery experiences, including Glenkinchie Flavour Journey; Whisky in the Wild tour; Warehouse and Cask Tour; Flowers and Cocktails Class and a Behind the Scenes Tour and Tasting are available to purchase and all take guests on a magical journey through Glenkinchie’s rich heritage, its generations of passionate whisky makers and its intricate and unique flavour creation process.
