A police investigation is underway following the report of a serious sexual assault on a 16-year-old female in Princes Street Gardens last night.
Officers were called to the scene around 9.50pm and part of the gardens have been cordoned off to allow for a full forensic examination.
Officers remain at the locus and further details are expected later today.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 9.50pm on Saturday, June 5, officers received a report that a 16-year-old female had been seriously sexually assaulted at Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
