A 30 year old man has been charged with the theft of a pedal bike.

He was seen by a member of the public last night in the Newhaven Road area, and police were contacted.

Sergeant Harman from our Prevention, Intervention and Partnerships Dept said “The theft of a bike can have a significant impact on the owner. As well as the financial side of things, people often depend on their bike to get to work and for exercising.

“We’re keen to help people to store their bikes as securely as possible and have some useful advice for you at the bottom of this post.

“If you have any information regarding the theft of pedal bikes, I urge you to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
