The Royal Lyceum Theatre along with all of us has been closely monitoring the situation regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) and sticking to all government guidance.
They have issued the following statement:
“The latest advice of The Scottish Government and Health Protection Scotland is that events for over 500 people should not take place from this week and the UK government yesterday advised an end to non-essential contact with others, specifically including theatres in that advice.
“The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh announced this morning that we will cancel or postpone all performances at our venue this month with immediate effect.
“As a result, we will be contacting audiences to offer refunds for all remaining performances of Mrs Puntila and Her Man Matti, Wind Resistance and Castle Lennox (where, in consultation with our co-producers Lung Ha Theatre Company, we have had to cancel rehearsals in light of the pandemic)
“We hope to be able to reschedule some of these performances and will contact audiences if we are able to do so.
“We are also cancelling all participation classes for the rest of this term, the last session being on 28 March, with the hope that these classes can be rescheduled in the Summer Term. We are still currently planning to run our Easter courses as advertised.
“We are not currently announcing the cancellation of performances of Barefoot in the Park in April or Life is a Dream in May / June which will remain on sale. It is hoped that these will be able to go ahead as planned or be postponed to a later date if necessary. Audiences for these shows will be advised in good time should performances be affected.
“Should new advice from government result in further changes to our service, we will notify our audiences by posting messages on our website and social media channels as well as contacting any ticket holders directly affected via e-mail.
“We continue to be grateful to our audiences for their patience and understanding at this time.”
