Berwick Bandits hope two key men can shake off injury to take to the track as they face Scunthorpe Scorpions in the SGB Championship in the Borders on Wednesday (7.30pm).

Jye Ethridge and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen were both hurt in a Heat 15 pile-up in a 58-32 SGB Championship win over Eastbourne Eagles on Saturday.

Former Glasgow Tigers racer Richard Lawson lifted coming off bend two down the back straight on the opening lap which caused the pile-up.

Busk Jacobsen is understood to have a shoulder injury and Ethridge, a former Edinburgh Monarchs rider, has bruising.

Second-bottom Bandits need points. They have 13 points from 12 matches while Scunthorpe are seventh in the 11-strong league with 17 points from 14 meetings.

Gary Flint, Bandits team manager, said: “It looks as if we had a runaway win over Eagles but they made us work for it.

“We’ll be keeping a close eye on the injuries and hope they will be OK for Wednesday.”
