EuroHockey League: AH&BC Amsterdam (Holland) 12, Grove Menzieshill (Dundee) 1.

Edinburgh-based coach Neil Allan must lift his men after Grove Menzieshill were crushed 12-1 in the EuroHockey League by Dutch masters AH&BC Amsterdam in Holland.

The Dutch used their array of world stars and South African-born Justin Reid-Ross started the goal blitz in the opening minutes, sweeping the ball home after Mirco Pruijser’s initial shot.

He added a corner in the first minute of the second quarter before Boris Burkhardt touched home.

Pruijser slotted in the fourth and Reid-Ross concluded his hat trick for 5-0 at the break.

The Scots pulled a goal back only 30 seconds after the restart when former Grange star Luke Cranney intercepted on the left of the pitch and crossed for Jamie Golden to finish.

Further goals from Pruijser, Valentin Verga, Tom Hiebendaal and Burkhardt stretched the lead out to 9-1 before the end of the third quarter.

Burkhardt became the second player to complete his hat-trick in the 49th minute and Pruijser became the third to score a treble with four minutes remaining before Rik van Kan took the tally to a dozen.
