Three Scottish women, who all played for Edinburgh-based teams earlier in their career, and one man have been selected in preliminary squads for the first round of matches in the new FIH Pro League where nine of the world’s best nations will compete.

The competition is also a key component of qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games

Players currently recovering from injury have not been included at this stage, but can be added at short notice once back in contention.

Two former Edinburgh University players, Nicki Cochrane and Sarah Robertson, are included along with ex-Inverleith player
Amy Costello.

And free-scoring former Kelburne star Alan Forsyth is included in the men’s squad.

The men’s team travel to Spain on Friday 25 January for their opening games and the women’s debut match is on Friday 8 February in New Zealand.
