Tired of worrying about GDPR? Take this opportunity to learn what you can do to protect your business.

Thorntons Solicitors are organising an event in Edinburgh to offer practical guidance to businesses and public authorities about General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018

Experts from Thorntons’ GDPR and Employment Law teams will be joined by David Freeland from the Information Commissioner’s Office to discuss specific data risks facing organisations.

The event will take place at Thorntons’ offices in Edinburgh in November.

Those attending will learn about potential risks arising from dealing with suppliers to approaching personal data issues with employees such as managing absence, reference requests and workplace discipline.

David Freeland will offer invaluable insight on the ICO’s view of risk under the new data protection regime. While discussing these topics, the speakers will also offer practical guidance on how you in your business or organisation can manage these risks.

There will be three presentations followed by Q&A sessions and a GDPR App showcase.

Loretta Maxfield, Associate at Thorntons Data Protection Team, said: “Compliance with the new data protection regime is not always straightforward.  These half day conferences aim to inform organisations, businesses and individuals and give them a clearer understanding of managing risk in some key areas namely within supply chains and responsibilities as an employer.

“Spaces are limited at these sessions so we would encourage early booking. We look forward to welcoming people along and helping them with data protection best practice.”

Thorntons GDPR Conferences take place from 8.45am – 12.45pm on Thursday 1 November in Dundee and Thursday 8 November in Edinburgh. The workshops cost £40 per person and are restricted to two attendees per organisation.
