Hibs’ winger Martin Boyle is determined to keep his place in the first team despite on-loan Manchester City star Thomas Agyepong breathing down his neck.

Boyle who has been linked with the Australian international team has been in great form this season and created the opening goal for Florian Kamberi before grabbing one of his own moments later in Saturday’s victory at Dens Park.

Agyepong replaced him from the substitute’s bench and demonstrated why he is fast becoming a favourite amongst the fans, scoring a terrific third to secure a superb three points.

Speaking after the game to Cliff Pike from Hibernian TV, Boyle said: “It was a brilliant afternoon. The first ten minutes were a bit shaky but Adam set the tone with a good save then as soon as we started to put our foot on the ball and started playing we were causing them problems.

“It’s not a nice position for Dundee at the moment but we had a job to do and needed the points. you have to feel for them but we were just concentrating on ourselves.

“We cam out of the traps early in the second half and got the start we needed.

“Whits (Steven Whittaker) came on and I thought he was brilliant with his experience. he slowed the game down a bit for us at times.

“I picked the ball up and saw Flo’s (Florian Kamberi) run and thankfully he toe-poked it in so it was good to get the lead.

“The second came from a brilliant ball from Efe (Abrose) who has that in his locker then it was up to me what to do next and it was a good strike into the bottom corner.

“Then Thomas (Agyepong) came on and it was a devastating finish. That’s the type of fire power we have on the bench at the moment.

“It’s up to me to keep my shirt and I’m thriving on it.”
