Cheeky Chompers based in Edinburgh has been given a Queen’s Award for Enterprise : International Trade 2018 which is the highest business award in the UK.
The company established by Julie Wilson and Amy Livingstone was featured on Dragons Den just after they set up in 2013 sells an expanding product line of stylish and innovative baby essentials.
One of their first products was the Neckerchew which is s a chewable reversible and absorbent dribble bib with integrated teether. To date they have sold more than a million items and export to 36 markets worldwide including USA, China and Taiwan.
Julie and Amy are delighted with their big news : “We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded a Queen’s Award for International trade just five years in to business! It is a great recognition of our success in overseas markets and a tribute to the effort of our small, dedicated team in Scotland and our relationships with overseas partners, which drives our significant year on year growth.
“We remain true to our original values- innovative baby essentials designed by mums to make parents’ lives easier. Quality and safety are vital to us, we make our premium products in the UK and test to stringent worldwide standards.
“We started exporting in our first six months’ trading, taking our truly innovative product global from the outset. Our launch into China last Summer has already seen it become one of our biggest markets and we have some great new markets coming on board in 2018. We are delighted to report that record turnover in 2017 saw a huge 30% growth across our existing export markets.”
The entrepreneurs will attend a reception at Buckingham Palace to receive the award.
