Edinburgh Capitals’ new netminder Tyler Beskorowany will arrive early in the New Year and the 27-year-old Canadian will replace current netminder Pavel Shegalo at No 1.

Ontario-born Beskorowany is 6ft 4in and a former National Hockey League draft pick for Dallas Stars.

He has iced in the AHL (American Hockey League) and ECHL (East Cosat Hockey League) before moving to Europe to play for Dusseldorfer and Nurnberg in the DEL, Germany’s top league.

Beskorowany said: “I know what to expect in Edinburgh and I’m expected to be a part of improved results.

“We’re looking to get the paperwork out of the way and have me arrive during the first few days in 2018. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Jock Hay said: “My co-coach Mike D’Orazio played with Tyler in juniors and he rates him highly.

“His signing is a good move and a signal of the desire of our club to improve.

“We need to focus on building from the back and we are optimistic that we can have a better second-half of the year.”
