A local under-15 football team has benefited from a second year of sponsorship from an Edinburgh based legal firm.
Beechwood FC, part of the Scottish Youth Football Association’s Edinburgh Leagues, has secured a second year of funding thanks to full service legal outfit Boyd Legal.
Run by volunteers and SFA-Qualified coaches, the club offers an outlet for football-mad kids of all ages, with the teams training throughout the city and playing matches at Tall Oaks in Corstorphine.
Sponsorship and funding are essential for clubs like Beechwood FC as it is the clubs’ responsibility to cover costs such as referees, pitches, and training equipment.
Michael Bailey, Club Secretary for Beechwood FC, said: “Our mission is to provide children and youth players in the Edinburgh area with more opportunities to get involved in football in a positive, competitive and developmental environment while ensuring they get to play the sport they love.
“The clubs in the league receive zero funding and so we have to source our own sponsors or hold fundraising activities to cover all running and games costs. Without the sponsorship from Boyd Legal the under-15 team would struggle to continue.
“As shirt sponsor, Boyd Legal is our biggest supporter – and fittingly our club colour is white and blue, perfectly matching the firm’s logo.”
The U15 team (2003 birth year) which started out in 2016 has since celebrated success by winning a league cup to get promoted to the second division where it hopes to continue to progress this season.
Peter Boyd, Managing Director at Boyd Legal, said: “Investing in our local community is something we are keen to do at Boyd Legal and we are proud to be one of the sponsors of Beechwood FC.
“Being able to help children to be involved in sport is particularly rewarding and so it was a no brainer for the Boyd team to continue to be the shirt sponsor for the club.”
