The Bank of Scotland branch at Wolseley Place in Piershill will close on 6 March 2018.
The bank explains that it has been a difficult decision but customers are not using the branch as often as they once did. There is also another branch in Portobello and customers use what they describe as ‘alternative ways to bank’ by which they refer to internet banking and the Bank’s mobile banking app.
The bank has analysed the age range of its customers using the branch and has discovered that the largest proportions are between 25-64 and the over 75 range. Only 9% are business customers, and around 80% already use another branch in addition to Piershill.
Other branches at Goldenacre and North Morningside have already closed this year.
