Free haircuts are offered to homeless men next Saturday 28 October 2017 at the Leith Walk Police Box. Sean the barber will provide the service and it will be available on an ongoing basis on the last Saturday of each month.

Run by Invisible Edinburgh, their founder Zakia said; “Invisible (Edinburgh) is all about bringing people dignity and making our guides and the wider homeless community feel like they are worthy.

“I believe the Street Barber Edinburgh is another way of doing just that. We will start with male hair cuts and if things go well, do women, make up and much more! These are exciting times for us!”

Have you heard what Invisible Edinburgh does?

The organisation trains homeless people to be tour guides thus giving them a way out of what is often an unwanted life situation.

The tours run every Wednesday Thursday and Friday after 3pm and all day on Saturdays.

Their friendly walking tours show off the sights in Edinburgh and also visit social projects in the capital along the way.

The social enterprise partners with CRISIS to deliver the required training about the city’s history as well as building up self confidence and public speaking skills.

Zakia is an impressive leader and has been chosen to attend the Emerging Innovators Bootcamp in Berlin next October. Invisible Edinburgh has also been nominated for two awards, one of them from The Travel and Hospitality Awards and the other from Thistle Awards in the Innovation in Tourism category.

You can volunteer with Invisible Edinburgh. If you feel that you could help them with anything, please get in touch via alice@invisible-cities.org and let them know how you can make a difference!
