Lisa Thomson’s Interview continues….
How do you see the coming year unfolding? Any hopes and aspirations?
Looking to push on with Scotland and back up last year’s performances in the 6 Nations and better ourselves as a team and individuals. I am looking to improve individually as a player out in France and embrace their style of play and bring back what I can to the National team, as well as aspiring to win the Top 8 with LMRCV. They are all great bunch of players and were runners-up last season and winners of the competition two seasons ago.
Never mind the language ‘issue’, the topic everyone will want broached is that you seem a little light on tattoo art compared to your two Scots team mates…..
Haha, yes it seems to be just those two with tattoos in the team, people must think its a Scottish thing but not for me.
The language barrier was a big issue when we first came over 5 weeks ago as I knew very little French apart from the basics, which was frustrating to begin with. But now we have picked up rugby terms and can pick out key words in team talks. Rugby is rugby at the end of the day. The coaching team are very good with us they use a lot of demonstrations for drills and a lot of the girls speak some English so they explain things to us, which is all very helpful.
Fourth Stage 3 Academy Player Announced
Just as these interviews were being prepared, and prior to our trip abroad, Scottish Rugby announced that a fourth female player, Penicuik’s Sarah Law, has also been elevated to BT Sport Academy Stage 3 status, but is remaining in Scotland for the time being.
A recent graduate in Applied Mathematics from Edinburgh University, Law will continue her studies part-time, to gain a Masters in Operational Research and Data Science. She will continue, in the meantime, to play for Murrayfield Wanderers and Edinburgh University.
We’d like to, again thank all three players in France for their time both, in person, and at the keyboard. It is hoped that their example will inspire others to pull on a pair of boots and get out there. Can everybody make it? Probably not, but if nobody tries……….
