Hibs’ goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw is taking one game at a time following his return to first team action after replacing first choice Ofir Marciano.

Laidlaw grabbed his chance against Livingston and played well despite losing two goals as Hibs reached the Betfred League Cup semi-final then on Saturday he kept his place against Ross County where he helped the club to their first league clean sheet of the season.

With Hibs one goal up, Laidaw produced two good saves late on to secure a ‘massive’ three points in Dingwall.

Hibs now travel to Celtic Park on Saturday to face the Champions and Laidlaw is guaranteed a starting spot as Neil Lennon has given Marciano time off to celebrate Jewish holiday Yom Kippur.

Although Celtic are unbeaten in 58 domestic games, Laidlaw insists that record will eventually be broken and he hopes Hibs can be the team to do that.

After the game Laidlaw told Hibs TV: “Everyone knew it was going to be a hard game. Coming up here and getting a clean sheet and a win is a massive result.

“We had a few chances to win the game and it could have been four or five. Their goalkeeper made three or four cracking saves so we are frustrated that we never capitalised and scored more goals.

“We kept it tight at the back but they had a couple of chances late n and I am just glad I made the saves and helped the boys out.

“I’m just taking it one game at a time but I am really enjoying it. We’ve had a great start to the season and Hibs are doing really well so far.

“It’s a massive game against Celtic next week and I hope to play in that. The manager has given me the chance and he told me that I was a good goalkeeper so just go in and show him what I can do. He told me he believed in me and has given me  couple of games to show what I can do.  We need to go there with a game plan and hopefully we can get a result.

” It will be a really hard game as they are playing well and creating a lot of chances. They are playing Champions’ League midweek but they have so many quality players that can come in but we are high in confidence after our last two wins.

“Somebody has to beat them eventually so why can’t it be us? There’s no point in going there thinking we will get beat, we need to go there believing we can win so we will take the game to them and see what happens.”
