Latvian defenceman Rihards Grigors joined Edinburgh Capitals at the beginning of last season and his gritty style made an impression.

The locally-based player, who iced in 24 games last term, has now committed himself to the Capitals for the up-coming season.

Grigors has played most of his career to date in Latvia but also has experience playing in Germany, Finland and Hungary.

And he is determined to develop his game in the Elite League.

Capitals face-off their season starts on August 29 with a home game against Manitoba.

Grigors said: “I’m looking forward to working under the new head coach, Dmitri Khristich.

“It’s an exciting season ahead for us and I will do my best every game to help the team be successful”.
