Police are appealing for witnesses following a suspicious fire in Bathgate which happened around 12.05 a.m. on Thursday morning at South Mains Farm.

During this time two barns were set alight resulting in significant damage to both outbuildings as well as a tractor and forklift, which were parked nearby.

A number of livestock were safely removed, however, one lamb was found to have died.

Inquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Detective Constable Krista Tench from Livingston CID: “In addition to the extensive damage to both barns and the vehicles, this fire also sadly resulted in the death of one lamb.

“We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in relation to this incident and anyone who saw anything suspicious around South Mains Farm, or who has information relevant to this investigation should contact police immediately.”
