Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon described goal-scorer Jason Cummings as a ‘superstar’ after his goal against Morton yesterday, but he insisted that another draw was not good enough from his team.

Hibs took the lead through Cummings only for Morton to equalise when Lawrence Shankland netted a spot-kick after Jamie McDonagh was brought down inside the box by Darren McGregor.

With Dundee United and Falkirk sharing the points at Tannadice, Hibs are virtually certain to gain automatic promotion back to the top flight and depending on other results, the title could be secured at Easter Road next Saturday against Queen of the South.

Speaking after the game Lennon said: “That’s 13 draws and it drives me mental. It’s not good enough. Brian Graham was in on goal, clean through and should score.

“I have Cummings who is a superstar. He scores with probably the hardest chance of the lot with a bit of composure and that’s why he’s so highly valued by a lot of people, but if he goes to England, where is the next young Scottish striker like him?

” I know he’s not proven at the highest level but he will score goals.

“Kenny (Miller) is coming to the end of his career along with Kris Boyd. You’ve got Sparky at Celtic but where is the next one?

“We’re very lucky to have someone as prolific as him. But he scores the main bulk of our goals. He’s brilliant.

“But as a team we’re not ruthless enough, that’s the bottom line. I don’t like criticising the players but if there’s one it’s that we could have easily have won ten of our 13 draws. Maybe I haven’t brought the right players in, I don’t know.

“But they cost money. Some of them need to weigh in with their fair share and they haven’t done that.”

Lennon was also angry that Hibs were denied a stonewall penalty when Mark Russell used both hands to block a shot from Martin Boyle in the first half.

To add insult to injury, a similar incident last week resulted in a penalty to Dunfermline which cost Hibs two points at East End Park. If anything yesterday’s incident was much more worthy of a spot kick that last week’s.

He added: “I need an explanation but I’ll not get one. It’ll be: ‘It’s poor old Lenny being the victim again, but I’m starting to think that there is an agenda.

“We have had five red cards this season and three were rescinded, I wonder of that’s a record.

“I don’t know of any team in one season, and we’re not even finished yet, who have had three red cards rescinded, that’s cost us points.

“I just didn’t like the referee’s performance today. I want an explanation because it’s not one hand, it’s two hands.”
