Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon insists that he would swap Scottish Cup glory for promotion back to the top flight.

Hibs comfortably beat Ayr United yesterday thanks to goals from John McGinn, Jason Cummings and James Keatings however but for a poor decision from the match officials it could have been much more emphatic.

Martin Boyle was brought down inside the area but the linesman’s flag was wrongly raised for offside when it was clear that the winger was at least a yard onside when the ball was played.

Despite that however Hibs never looked in any danger with new signing Efe Ambrose performing well at the heart of the defence.

Hibs’ fans now await the draw for the semi-finals which takes place this afternoon.

Rangers are already through and are likely to be joined by Celtic and either Aberdeen or on form Partick Thistle.

After the final whistle a delighted Lennon said: “I thought we were very good. I thought it was emphatic.

“In our last two cup games we’ve been spectacular, and in our last four league games we have been below par.

“I am very excited and I am really proud of the players, we’re in a semi-final again and it’s something to look forward to., but I would swap it all for promotion. We need to park the cup now and really concentrate on getting promotion.

“But we’re in both competitions, we are having a hell of a season. Our standards drop now and again, but the players are giving me everything.

“I’m excited about going to Hampden and they are excited about trying to retain the trophy. I’m used to going there with Celtic for finals and semis.”
