INVERLEITH have started training as they bid to retain the Scottish indoor field hockey title.
Coach Stuart Neave has a strong squad including two former Olympic players.
However, the club have lost the services of Scottish internationals Gordon Amour, Jamie Wong and Ian Moodie.
Brothers Andrew and Craig Sinclair have indicated they will play and also in the side are Stephen Dick and Graham Moodie who bring experience having played for Great Britain in Beijing and Athens respectively.
The Division One season starts on December 10 when they play Bromac Kelburne, Grove Menzieshill, last season’s runners-up, and Edinburgh rivals Grange but the club’s second team is on duty this weekend.
Coach Stuart Neave said: “It is fair to say that it is a tough opening day, given the caliber of the opposition and three matches.
“However, with the current format of the league, the opening encounters will simply give teams the opportunity to get reacquainted until we reach the group stages in January,
“Our target, as it has been for the last few seasons, is to try and retain the indoor league title. We are under no illusions. This will not be easy and we look forward to a competitive season.”
