Festival Director, Nick Barley, and Director of the Book Festival’s Children’s Programme, Janet Smyth, posed for photographers outside The Jam House earlier today following the launch of the 2016 programme for the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
This year the festival will include many events to get you thinking. The theme is ‘Imagine Better’, meant as a play on words so that you can idealise a better world or simply think more.
There will be 800 writers, poets, illustrators, politicians, journalists, historians, scientists, philosophers and playwrights from 55 countries in Charlotte Square garden later this summer.
With names such as Nicola Sturgeon, Jackie Kay, Gordon Brown, Cecelia Ahern, Sophie Kinsella, Julia Donaldson, A.L.Kennedy, Alan Cumming, Tam Dean Burn, Julian Clary, Gregor Fisher, James Yorkston, Frank Gardner, Stellar Quines, Carol Ann Duffy and Jonathan Safran Foer, there is a varied, eclectic and interesting festival in prospect.
